ASUS ROG Harp Ace Mouse review

If there is an important and very intimate accessory for the player, it is the mouse. Size, weight, shape, all characteristics must be taken into account. During CES 2023 Asus invited us to find our Rolls-Royce gaming mouse, with some very good features.

Overview and features of the Asus ROG Harp Ace gaming mouse

The Asus ROG Harpe Ace is a deceptively simple gaming mouse with decidedly enormous potential. Asus knows how to deal with gamers, especially since the mouse is an essential element for anyone who spends a lot of time gaming, especially for a competitive experience.

Design and comfort: impeccable

After using it for two full weeks, the Asus ROG Harp Ace quite stands out from other gaming mice. As well as being wireless, and therefore without cluttering up your play space, the 54 gram model allows for greater mobility than usual. After a long time adapting to Overwatch 2, I quickly realized the enormous potential of this model.

The hull shape is rounded with two clicks slightly hollowed out to accommodate your finger pulp. For once, the wheel doesn’t give you any special choices from then on model shipped notchedso it’s very practical for video games, for example for in-game weapon changes, but offers less convenience for browsing the internet.

Two side buttons are available for web browsing or programming in-game actions. Below are the buttons for changing the DPI of the mouse, as well as a button for pairing it with the computer on Bluetooth.

In terms of form, this ROG Harp Ace knows how to do it due to its slightly rough shell and fluted sides really manage to keep the hands in place, even during sudden movements. It has four pads underneath for gliding on most surfaces, but for this time, you’re best off using a good mouse pad.

This special edition in partnership with Aimlab gave me the benefits of a fairly simple, albeit fairly large, software-designed mouse pad. If you’re not familiar with Aimlab, it’s an aiming practice program typically used by professional gamers.

Whether you put your fingers all over the mouse shell or whether you’re the kind of person who rests your hands on the claw grips, the Asus ROG Harpe Ace remains outstanding because the clicks are incredibly long and will never get in the way of the mouse pulp. your finger.

Regarding weight and shape, Asus is right on target, although these criteria are quite subjective. From my experience as an FPS player, I still feel more comfortable having a light weight to compensate for sudden movements, but the offering is still very good, and a good bet for Asus.

A simple mouse but not without potential

Simple doesn’t mean bad and Asus shows us that. Apart from being very light in weight, this model has ultra-low latency via its ROG AimPoint optical sensor. When playing at 240Hz, I experienced no latency or acceleration to interfere with my gaming experience.

Obviously, not everything is done without concessions and therefore Asus does not offer any kind of memory for saving profiles, and as you can notice, no frills or backlighting (except the wheels) for Asus ROG Harp Ace. The brand’s goal above all is to offer an ultra-light mouse that perfectly suits the needs of competitive gamers.

Battery life is excellent as you can use it for around 90 hours before needing to recharge it via a USB-C cable.

Armory Crate driver software remains your best friend (or worst enemy) for customizing your experience by viewing your sensitivity in real time, calibrating your sensors, and even changing your wheel backlight.

We must both underline Asus’ efforts to offer a simple and elegant design that takes us away from the clichés inherent in gamers with designs that are sometimes strange or even unpleasant. ROG Harp Ace says goodbye to all of that for a simple gaming experience with all of Asus’ know-how.

Strong point

  • The perfect weight
  • Classic form but very effective
  • Perfect clicks adapted to different ways of playing (claws, palms)

The Asus ROG Harpe Ace is a mouse that borrows qualities from many of Asus’ older models to create a near-perfect experience. Its rounded shape with its hollow click sound, but ESPECIALLY its weight of only 54 grams makes it the main argument for gamers. No matter how you hold the mouse, the Asus ROG Harp Ace adapts very well despite its very plain appearance.
