Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-59KD chassis, connectors, display
Cooled by CoolBoost technology using 2 fans adjustable via the NitroSense app, heat pipes and air vents, it sports a clear gamer look with a black design with angular lines and a red finish.
The connectivity integrated into this designer gaming laptop is good, consisting of 1 wireless module ax USB-C, Bluetooth 5, and Wi-Fi (newer and more efficient than Wi-Fi ac) to communicate and connect remotely, a handy HDMI video output to easily connect this computer to a TV or monitor e.g., Ethernet and audio ports but also 3 USB 3.0 (compatible with USB 2.0) guarantee transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 peripheral is plugged into it.
The chiclet keyboard is of course backlit, which is handy for better distinguishing the keys in dimly lit environments.

Performance, autonomy Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-59KD
The Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-59KD is for those looking to get a versatile large format laptop PC that performs well in gaming and creation.
Whether with the Iris Xe graphics solution integrated into the processor or the GeForce RTX 3060, it is of course possible to view photos and videos, but also to play simple games.
The GeForce RTX 3060 is actually enabled by Optimus technology to do graphics work that is considered too heavy for Intel Iris Xe.
Optimus actually switches automatically and in real time between the GeForce RTX 3060 and Intel Iris Xe. The latter is preferred as much as possible to ensure the best autonomy due to energy saving.
In this area, expect about 7 hours of battery operation under light use.
The GeForce RTX 3060 ray tracing targets gamers as it is a high-end dedicated NVIDIA Ampere graphics card that can be used to play the latest games.
Content creators will appreciate that the GeForce RTX 3060 speeds up processing under software that takes advantage of the GPU’s computing power, such as Adobe Photoshop / Premiere or Sony Vegas.
Iris Xe takes its place in the Intel Hexa Core i5-11400H Tiger Lake-H processor which provides solid general performance capable of satisfying users to the max. In particular, it provides faster multimedia processing than Quad Core under multicore-enabled software. It’s a shame, however, that at this price level the amount of RAM associated with it is limited to 8 GB.
However, storage is reliably entrusted to SSDs which offer several advantages over simple hard disks: greater resistance to shock, lower energy consumption, quiet operation or even higher speeds.
Every day, SSDs guarantee much better fluidity and responsiveness in use than hard drives. Thanks to SSD, we get much faster game / software launch and processing and start / stop, or even faster arrival at online game cards.
With a capacity of 512 GB, the SSD here offers a capacity equivalent to a standard hard disk. If you need more space, you can obviously use an external storage unit. Opting for USB 3.0 / USB-C devices is an interesting solution to get fast transfers.
Lastly, expect heat and noise from this designer gaming laptop, which is inherently not easy to carry around due to its bulky weight and format. However, the latter is convenient for sedentary use (for example, at home).
To withstand the temperature, you can add a ventilated stand to this computer (remember to check the dimensions carefully!).
