MILF Manor is reality TV tragicomedy at its best

I haven’t been called out to the sounds of reality TV sirens in a long time, but something about MILF Manor’s spunk and debauchery brought me back to the deep end. The show was built around the spicy, but fun concept of getting a group of MILFs on an island who would then compete for the affections of a group of young men. However, it takes one step closer to madness by making the men on the show all MILF sons.

Yes, that’s awesome.

First of all, quite a few 30 Rock jokes come to life, which is already great. While it doesn’t have Survivor-style eliminations like fictional MILF Island, that’s probably a good thing since MILF Manor’s cast is amazing and it would be criminal to see any of them leave early. .

Of course, the show would be nothing without some quality MILFs and that’s where the show really shines. MILFs are all great with a variety of looks and personalities. Looking for an athletic blonde who refers to herself in the third person as “The Disco Mom?” “You have it. Want an aggressive South Korean mom with a dark secret? Sure. You name it and MILF Manor might have it. There really is a MILF for everyone.

While the MILF’s initial fascination and the shock they experience dating another MILF’s son (SILF?) is enough to push viewers through the door, it’s the incredible mix of tragedy and comedy that makes this series so compelling.

First, there is the inherent layer of sympathy with all MILFs. Yes, they’re attractive, but they’re also sincerely looking for love and you can’t help but wonder if appearances can sometimes get in the way of the personal connection they’re seeking. Some have more tragic stories than others, like Pola’s husband who died in a car accident, but they have been looking for someone to spend the rest of their lives with for decades at this point. Other people seem to get in the way of their own behavior. Either way, viewers remain attached to certain aspects of MILF and hope they can all find love and/or improve themselves along the way.

While some of their sons may have initially come onto dating shows hoping to score goals with older women, that means they are now also trying to stop their mothers from acting as well. Sure, it’s a dating show and people are expected to watch it, but it’s still surprising how in front some moms are with young men when their kids are right next to each other. It’s uncomfortable to watch and I imagine even worse for those involved. Would it be worth it to see your friends, many of whom you are already starting to recognize, trying to spank your mother? It’s a lingering question on MILF Manor that few other shows have tackled (probably because it’s crazy) and it leads to excellent squeaky comedy.

However, the laughs turned to real grief as the show progressed. Episode 2 of MILF Manor saw son and mother confess their wildest sex secrets. Some are more tame and fun – like sex on the beach – but the real tragedy begins when SoYoung admits to her son Jimmy that she once slept with her best friend, a secret that comes just minutes after everyone is laughing at Jimmy getting pinkeye from eating ass.

The revelation takes Jimmy, who is considered to be the funniest and friendliest member of the Sons and who has been very vocal about wanting to suck Pola’s toes (to the point that he wants to “suck the acrylic off their toes”), to be shocked. He couldn’t believe the betrayal, which came from his closest family members and trusted friends. It’s a sad situation that leaves Jimmy wallowing in the pool late at night wondering if he can be trusted again.

It was (maybe a bit) legitimate trauma. Broadcast on television. For our pleasure. And I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t addicted. It really underscores how MILF Manor makes you feel a little dirty but want more. What that says about ourselves and society as a whole may not be good, but I’m here to escape reality TV – a mansion full of MILFs! – rather than contemplating these deeper questions.

Two episodes have aired so far, and I hope there will be a happy ending. Well, I’m sure there will be some, but I mean the more common kind for those involved. Because so far, there are many lonely people who seek pleasure, satisfaction, and goals with mixed results. Hopefully everything is in the correct MILF.
