Falling Out (Nintendo Switch) – Test

Falling Out is a Switch game released by Firestoke on October 6, 2022. It is described as a 2D rogue-like. From the start of the game, you have a choice of language. The game is available in French. The game starts with a cutscene in which we see a woman who breaks down in her car after a meteorite crashes. The man came to fix the car. They fall in love and get married. Their honeymoon takes place in Egypt inside the pyramids of Giza.

An Egypt trip like no other

The game starts in the protagonist’s car. The man eats pizza while drinking beer. The wife asks him to remember their honeymoon. Someone knocked on their door and off they went to catch a plane to Egypt.

The man spends his time eating on the plane. Her belly is sticking out of the t-shirt, which is a bit of a cliché.

Therefore they will visit the pyramids of Giza. They took the last selfie when it was forbidden.

You play two characters in turns from the first level which acts as a tutorial. To validate the end of the level, you must approach the exit with two characters.

This is a 2D side scrolling platformer.

After our photo, we landed in Amenhotep III’s treasure room with the statues representing us. We are told that we woke Amenhotep III by taking pictures of us.

We are told that the perfect partner will save this world from Amenhotep’s terror. We need to get to the four talismans hidden in the four ancient temples.

Azar, the character who tells us about our mission, explains to us that we have to cross four zones in a certain amount of time. After this time has passed, the area will flood and we will drown, which is great.

Stone tablets found on our way can be turned into blueprints that will allow us to upgrade our weapons and equipment (boomerangs, bows, etc.).

There are a total of 46 achievements to unlock as we continue our adventure.

In the settings it is possible to activate the display of the level number and the time remaining to pass the level, in order to better position yourself for its realization.

Azar is also a merchant who will sell items that will help us along our journey, such as weapons, powers or even potions. He also translated the tablets we brought with us and turned them into plans. It is enough to collect the necessary items to be able to carry out the plan.

When one of the characters dies, we have to repeat the level from the beginning. The pyramid is every day, we only have three chances to reach it in its entirety. On the third death, regardless of character, our progress is reset.

At the end of each level, points are made for everything that can be achieved: collection, number of monsters killed, broken chests, broken vases, found objects…

After each level, we return to the merchant. We can buy goods, but we can also deposit money with camels. This will cost you 10%, but the money put aside will be kept no matter what.

There are four worlds to traverse and about ten levels per world to complete. The pyramid becomes daily, its development starts from zero every day.

We have a choice at the start of each new attempt between three difficulty levels to be played in the time allowed to complete those levels.

It is also possible in case of repeated failures to activate an infinite number of attempts to pass the pyramid.

Rankings are made based on the score achieved on each level compared to other players using the game.

A game made for co-op

The game test is done solo. This makes the task more difficult, because you have to deal with two characters in turn. When we take care to change one of the characters, the other can be attacked by other creatures and monsters that have only one goal, namely to touch and kill you.

Therefore, it is recommended to play the game cooperatively, in order to fully enjoy the experience.

Indeed, it is possible to interact with both characters. One can throw the other in the air to reach inaccessible platforms. This one will then throw a rope at the other to allow him to join them.

At the graphical level, the game offers a colorful and attractive set that perfectly suits this style of play. The music that accompanies this game is very pleasing and accompanies the gaming experience perfectly.
