As it has in previous years, Apple wasted no time in launching its new flagship. The new iPhone 13 and its various versions are available for pre-order a few days after its reveal. The four new iPhones – iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max – are equipped with a new processor: the A15 Bionic chip, which will offer significantly more power to the new phones, with specifically better battery management .
The iPhone 13 also comes with a larger battery that Apple says will provide between 1.5 and 2.5 hours of extra usage per day. This novelty is partly related to the installation of the A15 chip. “The iPhone 13 has a faster chip, faster 5G, a brighter OLED screen, and the most advanced dual camera system ever on an iPhone, and with all these improvements, iPhone 13 has better autonomy,” summarizes Apple’s vice president , Kiann Dance during the Keynote.
The iPhone 13 camera has also been improved. In addition to reducing the notch on the front of the smartphone, a new feature, Cinema mode, will allow video capture using the rear camera and users can change focus, with a new aperture of f/ 1.6, 7 element lens, 26mm focal length. The iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max also feature a new 3x telephoto lens and an ultra-wide camera that enables macro photography for the first time, to capture small objects.
In terms of design, Apple wants to bet on an elegant aesthetic, with thinner curves. Of course, the iPhone 13 has an IP68 splash-resistant system. But it’s mainly on the back of the device where its appearance has changed the most. Indeed, the cameras are now paired, placed diagonally.
Color levels, the iPhone 13 keeps new options, such as making the iPhone pink. You can still find the usual colors which are red, midnight black, starlight white and blue. As for the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, the latter is available in alpine blue, graphite, gold and silver. A new color, called Alpine Green, was added to the catalog in early 2022.
Despite the disappointing sales of the iPhone 12 mini, Apple has decided to try the experience again by announcing the iPhone 13 mini. The latter has the same characteristics as the classic version, but in a smaller format, for easy storage and use. It is also available in several colors, as is the case with the classic version which is pink, blue, midnight, starlight and red. iPhone 13 mini is fully compatible with 5G communication networks, and benefits from iOS 15.
This was one of the many questions Apple answered on the eve of the iPhone 13 presentation: there really is an iPhone 13 Pro and an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Like the Pro 12 version, the iPhone 13 Pro is again aimed at novice photographers. Better yet, a filter called “Cinematic Video” turns portrait mode, hitherto reserved for stills, into video capture. The 3x mode also offers a wider angle, macro photography style. As for the screen, it measures between 6.1 and 6.7 inches (it all depends on whether you also select the Max option).
As a reminder, the iPhone 12 Pro is already an enhanced version, and one that has an additional photo sensor dedicated to the telephoto lens, as well as video quality at up to 60 frames per second (compared to 30 on the iPhone 12 classic and mini). Other characteristics generally remain the same as the other versions.
Like the iPhone 12 released last year, Apple is again offering a Pro model for the iPhone 13. Compared to the classic iPhone 13, it has a smaller notch, but the camera module is larger than its original format. A striking novelty in aesthetics, the “Alpine” blue color enters the small iPhone Pro family. Compared to the iPhone 12 Pro, there is something new in terms of performance, thanks to the use of the A15 Bionic chip, which allows for longer battery life. Still using new technology, ProMotion goes to the iPhone 13 Pro. This, which is used by the iPad, requires greater screen brightness.
Regarding size, the iPhone 13 Pro has a 6.1-inch screen, compared to 6.7 inches for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Especially the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max cameras that will interest fans. The new chip is more efficient
If we take a closer look at the characteristics of the iPhone 13, Apple unveiled a new processor and in particular the A15 chip which will make the iPhone 13 faster than its predecessors. But capacity isn’t going to increase tenfold: the A15 chip doesn’t look revolutionary (it won’t be engraved in 3nm but it will stay in 5nm like the A14 and will include the same number of cores) and in particular is already used in the iPad. But the A15 Bionic chip is still 50% faster than the competition.
Dual camera for classic iPhone 13
That’s Apple’s other big bet: offering better photos, and especially video. Thanks to this new sensor, the apple brand promises clearer colors. Thanks to new technologies such as Sensor Shift, it offers users more optical stabilization. At the video level, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini also offer a better ultra-wide angle on the back of the device (12 mpx equivalent, f/1.6, 26 mm).
In the first leaked image, we already see a change in the position of the photo sensor. On the back of the iPhone 13, two sensors are positioned diagonally to adjust the size of some of the components on the smartphone. The front camera notch is also smaller than the iPhone 12 model. Meanwhile, the dimensions for the classic iPhone 13 are identical to its predecessor, namely 146.7 × 71.5 × 7.6mm. In addition, the Face ID system is improved, with effective facial recognition even if the owner is wearing a mask. Hence, the iPhone 13 in the style of Covid-19.
This is another great return to this apple brand. Apple is bringing out, during the September Keynote, new storage space for iPhone… up to 1 TB! Previously, the largest storage did not exceed 512 GB. If this storage capacity is unprecedented for a smartphone, the price will be affected. It takes a little over 1,800 euros to get this type of iPhone in Pro format.
