Every week, there are tons of games coming out on the PS5, and as you know, it’s often hard to find your way around them. This is where the JV editorial staff comes into play. So, which titles are worth watching between January 16 and 22, 2023 on Sony consoles? Here are our picks.

Persona 3 Grasp / Persona 4 Gold

We’re starting with a series you’ll definitely know about, even if Japanese RPGs aren’t your thing: this is Persona, the fifth episode of which has just arrived in Royal version on PC consoles. This time, studio Atlus and publisher SEGA invite you to (return) discover the two previous parts, namely Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, which were released on PSP and PlayStation Vita in 2011 and 2013 respectively! The first, like Persona 5, follows a high school student who discovers “The Dark Hour”, the moment between the two days when residents turn into monsters. In the second, navigate the village of Inaba in Japan, while a series of murders terrifies its inhabitants. In either case, it will be required alternating between everyday life and mystery, based on adventure and turn-based combat! They are rated as excellent role playing games.

A Room For The Unattached

In yet another genre, here’s A Space for the Unbound, a narrative adventure game Indonesian countryside in the 1990s (which is already rare enough to underscore). The idea, “a story about how to overcome anxiety, depression”, we can learn in the press release, but also interested in the relationship of two high school sweethearts, Atma | Raya, blessed with supernatural powers. Throughout the adventure: we will therefore get to know them, observe their reactions to the awakening of this unique ability, follow their explorations and investigations of the city. Principle Issues

We’re continuing with a piece of software like no other, as it’s not an actual video game but an interactive historical comic. It’s called “Principle Issues(Hence “A question of principle”, in French) and the DillyFrame team offer here to immerse you in one of the most publicized events of the 20th century: the death of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, Franz Ferdinand, by Princip Serbian Gavrilo. Two years after its initial release on Nintendo Switch, one year after its release on PC, it’s time for Monster Hunter Rise to conquer other machines. Starting January 20, the game will be available on PS4 and PS5 (also Xbox on Game Pass). The concept: you probably know it, hunt and then fight the huge creatures in open areas, such as Monster Hunter World, collect lots of objects and weapons to suit the species. Here, the story is reduced to a minimum, the game phases and gameplay come first. Moreover, as long as we’re talking about this last point, Rise is betting on a more vertical approach | dynamic with the addition of “Filoptera”, an insect-grapple that allows you to make many hovering movements in the air.

OmegaBot

After Monster Hunter Rise you want more action? Then you have to see OmegaBot, which is coming soon to PS4 (therefore PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility)! It’s simple: it’s an action platform game viewed from the side, in the skin of a tiny robot. “Avoid metallic dangers, acquire powerful weapons – and fight your way through a shattered world” we learn in the press release. In this one, we can also read that developer Simon Carni put special emphasis on “hidden secrets”, and boss fights with “challenges”.
