SEA Focus, a lot of talent in a unique place!
Have you been to Tanjong Pagar Distripark? This is a surprising place that you should know about, among other artistic places in Singapore. Until Sunday, January 15th, SEA Focus features emerging artists from Southeast Asia. Don’t miss!
“new world”, is the name given to the exhibition SEA Focus, a landmark event of Singapore Art Week – SAW, which is currently taking place at Tanjong Pagar Distripark. More than a name, this is a fresh start idea. STPI, an art gallery in Singapore whose mission is to promote art, is behind this event. A sharp selection of works produced in Southeast Asia is presented by 25 galleries from New York, Sydney, Berlin, Beijing, Taipei, Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Hanoi, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and of course Singapore!
Experimentation and commitment, these artists speak to us. Take time to discover their world, to try to understand them and allow yourself to be consumed by your emotions…
A place, an artist, an encounter…
We love this place. A place no taxi knows, in the heart of the ferry terminal warehouse. It’s a joy to get lost on the floors of this building to discover new galleries, temporary exhibitions, cafes. Taking one of the lifts currently still in use for transporting goods, finding ourselves face to face with the pallet trucks at the end of the corridor, we love this unique and timeless place. A place of exchange, meeting, discovery, freedom.
At each visit, it’s good to be overwhelmed by works we love or hate.
SAM, the Singapore Art Museum, also moved there last year.
Currently, within the SEA Focus framework, the work of Schleier’s female specifically challenged us with the materials he used and the meaning he gave to his work. Glass beads, embroidery, sheet metal, fluorescent acrylics, electronic components, the paintings are printed circuits representing cities, people, connections, light in contact, the fun and joy of being able to connect with something and someone. This artist also departed from convention. His paintings are undoubtedly positive visions of the expansion of the world and human relations. It feels good. Art Porters Gallery which presents Bettina in Singapore understands this perfectly.

Nguyen Ngoc Vu (aka Caubetho), based in Saigon, exhibited by CUC Gallery Hanoi which blends Vietnamese classic art with pop culture. It has an impact. The artist does not limit himself to any medium and integrates many references to the past, current events and everyday life in his work. He is a bold artist.

Digital, one of the components of a work or a separate work, right?
Made by Keith Theo is the result of the relationship between digital and the materiality of canvas and paint. He paints intuitively but is always guided by the right ideas and emotional memory. He creates accidents on his canvas voluntarily and at the same time randomly. His works are presented by AC43 Gallery Singapore.

The NFT Show entitled “Living System” was organized by Tezo. Tezos is a blockchain as well as a cryptocurrency that allows you to buy NFTs on special sale sites and store them in wallets (electronic wallets).
NFTs are non-fungible tokens which means they are time stamped and tamper proof. Every piece sold is tracked and endorsed in a contract. So even if the work remains visible to everyone, the owner is clearly identifiable and can decide to keep the work, or resell it and therefore speculate.
The most used cryptocurrencies for purchasing NFT art are Ethereum, Solana, Tezos.
The most famous sales sites are Opensea, Rarible, KnowOrigin.
The most recommended wallets are Metamask and Kukai.
As part of the SEA Focus exhibition, the work of 4 artists is displayed on screens arranged in a specific room.
NFT already has its place in the art world. This is a great opportunity to discover some of these works and thus be able to assess their creative interests for yourself.
If you want to know more, you can also register for the Tezos conference which will take place this Saturday, January 14 at 14.00.
