Reinier’s horrific fiasco is still a mess
The Brazilian colony of Real Madrid will grow. In 2024, as soon as he grows up, Endrick will join the crowd at the Santiago-Bernabéu stadium. The arrival for which Juni Calafat, scout for Merengues, was largely responsible. He mainly worked on the Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Reinier. If for the first two everything was fine, then for the last city, on the contrary, everything did not go according to plan. However, Merengues has great faith in him.
A Copa Libertadores winner at just 17 years old, he’s considered a nugget and a talent in the making. A profile that immediately delighted the people of Madrid who completed his arrival on 20 January 2020. “Real Madrid and Club de Regatas do Flamengo have reached an agreement for the transfer of Reinier, who is now tied to the club until 2026”, we can read in the press release published on the Spanish club’s website. Purchased for 30 million euros, Reinier can fulfill his dream in Europe at one of the best clubs in the world.
From dream to nightmare
Like others before him, he was sent with Castilla to smoothly adapt and adjust. But after just three games (2 goals, 1 assist), he was stopped completely by the covid-19 epidemic. Championship suspended and young auriverde unable to continue. To help him, Los Blancos decided to send him on a two-year loan to Borussia Dortmund. It worked for Achraf Hakimi, who went on to make successful moves to Inter Milan and then to PSG. Again, the Brazilian struggled.
During his first season at BVB, he made 19 appearances in all competitions but started only once (1 goal, 1 assist). Thus, he played a total of 337 minutes. Note however that between covid-19 (16 days off) and muscle issues (6 days off), he missed 7 encounters with the Marsupials. The following season, Reinier played 20 times, including 3 times as a starter (0 goals, 0 assists), which is a total playing time of 417 minutes. In two years, it has been used for 754 minutes. Which is too little.
Dortmund, happiness is not in loans
An experience that the Brazilian does not necessarily live well as he admits Globe Sports. “The bad thing (at Dortmund) is that I can’t develop my football (…) I don’t understand. I train well and they don’t play me? It’s their choice, I respect everyone, the institution, the players who played, but it’s a shame.”. Then he aroused the criticism that was the object of it. “It was just a massacre. It was just a beating… It was a really hard time. But everyone knows, every player knows that people who say ‘Oh, Reinier didn’t play at all’ are haters, who don’t know what we’re going through.”.
He then added: “They don’t know what life is, they think it’s just a good thing, it’s just a luxury. Of course not, we went through a lot. Of course, everyone has their own lifestyle, but we went through a lot, and it wasn’t just the good things. During these two years, in my profession, I have nothing good. I went through a lot of hard things when I was 18, 19 years old. You feel it, my family sees me sad. I left the lighter so shaken I couldn’t sleep. I’ve always played for Flamengo and suddenly you’re not playing and you feel like you’re not helping your team… you feel like things aren’t going well for you. »
Subscribe to the hospital in Girona
He is therefore hoping to bounce back in Girona, where Real Madrid sent him on loan this summer as all places for non-EU players are taken up inside the Casa Blanca. “I am very happy with this project. What I want is to play, to be happy doing what I love, which is to play football. The project pleases me. This is a great project for me and my family.”, he confessed. Packed, Reinier was quickly disappointed. However, things have started well with 5 appearances including 3 starts and 1 goal. Then, the Brazilian again went through the hospital box. Following a muscle problem, he missed 21 days and missed 4 games. Returning, he played twice, before missing 3 games before the truce was linked to the World Cup.
But the footballer suffered a muscle tear in the bicep femoris of his right leg that will keep him out of action until early February according to AS, did not play against Cacereño in the Copa del Rey on 22 December. With only 7 games in time (286 minutes played), he has missed 8 games in all competitions this season. On the Girona side, where we would have struggled for maintenance, we were annoyed we couldn’t count on him. In Madrid, what looked like another fiasco was also not well received. Obviously, nothing is going well for Reinier, whose dreams have nightmares for now.
