The company has been in touch about the next big event coming up: the MWC event which takes place in Barcelona from February 27 to March 2. The perfect opportunity for the brand to unveil two new smartphones coming to the public: Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro.
Even though everything indicates that the Xiaomi 13 will launch at the end of February, this does not match the release date. We’ll have to wait a little longer before getting our hands on this much-anticipated new phone, thanks in particular to the partnership with camera maker Leica. What is the difference between Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro?
The Xiaomi 13 has a 6.36-inch OLED flat screen with 1.61 mm thick and 71.5 mm wide bezels while the Pro version has a 6.73-inch screen, the screen design is also different, the standard version features straight frames and the Pro version features a hyperboloid design. Both Xiaomi are equipped with the Android 13 operating system and IP68 protection. The refresh rate of Xiaomi 13 is a fixed 120, on the other hand, the Pro including HTPO technology has refresh rates ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. The Xiaomi 13 is equipped with a Full HD display (1080p) and the Xiaomi 13 Pro is with a Quad HD display (2K). Both versions have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. The standard Xiaomi 13 comes with a glass back cover, available in four colors (black, white, green, and sky blue). The Pro model, on the other hand, has a ceramic back cover that comes in the same 4 colors. Basically, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is heavier and sturdier than the standard model.
What’s new in Xiaomi 13?
The first novelty about the Xiaomi 13 is in terms of its power. It’s important for manufacturers to offer more powerful versions every year than previous smartphones, and Xiaomi is no exception. The company has equipped both Xiaomi 13 with the latest generation of processors. That’s good, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip is equipped on the new Xiaomi 13, or at least the base and Pro versions.
In particular, there are changes to the design of the Xiaomi 13. The front of the phone is very flat with a 1.5K resolution (2712 x 1220 pixels) 2.5D display. The 32MP selfie camera sits in the center of the front screen. The edges of the phone have also been smoothed out. Unlike the iPhone, the glass back has a slight indentation around the edges, designed to be easier to grip. The dimensions of the phone are 152.8 x 71.5 x 8.3mm and the camera bump is 10.3mm thick.
Xiaomi 13 Pro relies heavily on the photo section by equipping itself with no less than three sensors. The latter include wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, while the latter may only be a telephoto lens capable of shooting long-distance shots.
Xiaomi is still one of the kings in a very specific segment: charging. Xiaomi 13 is compatible with 120W fast charging. They follow in the footsteps of the previous Xiaomi 12 Pro which was able to fully charge in just twenty minutes!
How much does the Xiaomi 13 cost?
The Xiaomi 13 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is available in China for 3999 yuan (543 euros). While the Xiaomi Pro has a starting price of 4997 yuan (679 euros), the price increases depending on the capabilities of the smartphone. However, one should expect much higher prices in Europe due to various mandatory taxes on the phone. As a reminder, the Xiaomi 12 is marketed in France starting at 899 euros.
