They were expected, they are now official. Xiaomi has just launched the entire Redmi Note 12 lineup for the Chinese market. Comprising four smartphones, the new series seems to live up to its ambitions, and boasts an impressive quality / price ratio.

Redmi Note 12 concludes the conference, but it is very important for the company. This very affordable model is equipped with a 6.67-inch OLED display rendered in Full HD+, and benefits from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. over the range. All are IP53 certified and can therefore withstand splashes of water and light dust.
The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, 5G SoC sculpted in 6 nm. The chip is paired with 4.6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. On the photo side, Xiaomi has opted for a 48 Mpx main module, accompanied by a 2 Mpx (f / 2.4) depth sensor.
Finally, the Redmi Note 12 has a 5000 mAh battery which is compatible with 33 W charging. Like all the phones presented, it will run on Android 13 and MIUI 13.
Despite inflation, rates are expected to remain among the lowest on the market. So here they are:
• 4 + 128 GB: 1199 yuan (165 euros excluding tax);
• 6 + 128: 1299 yuan (180 euros excluding tax);
• 8 + 128: 1399 yuan (193 euros excluding tax);
• 8 + 256: 1599 yuan (220 euros before tax).
Promising pros
The Redmi Note 12 Pro runs a good high-end move but is still cheap. It also has a 6.67 Oled display featuring Full HD+, which benefits from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The panel, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ certified, will peak at a luminous peak of 900 nits. With dimensions of 162.9 x 76 x 7.9 mm and a weight of 187 grams, it is still on average today’s smartphones.

Under the latter, we find the Dimensity 1080, a redesigned version of the friendly Dimensity 920 that was already seen on the Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G. The device is backed by 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
On the back, we find Sony’s famous 50-megapixel IMX766 (f / 1.9). A sensor that has proven itself on mid-range and high-end smartphones launched last year. We also note the presence of an 8 Mpx (f / 1.9) ultra wide-angle and a 2 Mpx (f / 2.4) macro module. On the front, there is a 16 Mpx sensor which will take care of selfies.
The 5000 mAh battery is compatible with fast charging at 67 W. Again, the advertised price remains very true:
• 6GB + 128: 1699 yuan (234 euros excluding tax);
• 8GB + 128: 1799 yuan (248 euros excluding tax);
• 8GB + 256: 1899 yuan (262 euros excluding tax);
• 12GB + 256: 2099 yuan (289 euros excluding tax).
Always more pixels
As the name suggests, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ wants to give us more for our money. This is quite an impressive smartphone, at 9 mm thick and weighing 208 grams. It’s no surprise that the company opted for the same panel and the same SoC as on the Redmi Note 12 Pro.

It stands out when it comes to photography and charging. It is indeed equipped with a 200 Mpx main sensor whose lens opens at f/1.65. This is Samsung’s 1/1.4-inch HPX, and will complement several models planned for the coming year. The remaining modules are the same as on the Note 12 Pro. Ambitious equipment for the middle class.
The company has also opted for a 5000 mAh battery, this time compatible with recharging at 120 W. A technology that allows refueling in less than half an hour.
Evaluation :
• 8 + 256 GB: 2099 yuan (289 euros excluding tax);
• 12+256 GB: 2299 yuan (317 euros excluding tax).
Never three without four
Xiaomi has saved one last model for the end of its show: the Note 12 Discovery Edition, referred to as the Explorer Edition so far. A smartphone that incorporates all the Note 12 Pro + technical datasheets, but offers a 4300 mAh battery that can be recharged at 210 W. Unheard of in a smartphone.

Redmi determines that you can fully charge your phone in just 9 minutes. To limit the heating we have the right to fear with such fast charging, the device incorporates a 3000 mm² vapor chamber.
Its slightly more compact battery allows it to display the same weight as the Note 12 Pro (187 grams). Available in the 8+256GB version, the price is 2399 yuan, or about €330 excluding tax. Like the other Redmi Note 12, the smartphone has only recently been announced in China. We will therefore have to wait for official communication from Xiaomi to find out which one will be marketed in Europe, and most importantly to know the price in euros.
