So when I found out, I asked Paul, a computer friend, how he cleans his keyboard.

This is the method he uses to have a keyboard too own than if it was new.

What do you need

– soft cloth

– 90° alcohol

– aerial bomb

How to do

1. Unplug the computer.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Also remove earphones, USB keys, and anything else that might get in the way of cleaning.

4. Take a dry cloth and gently wipe all the keys to remove most of the dirt.

5. Take the air bomb.

6. Direct a jet of air at the keyboard to remove clogging dust.

7. Turn the computer over carefully.

8. Tap gently on the back to loosen the dirt.

9. Moisten your cloth with 90° alcohol.

10. Smoothly run on all keys.

11. Do the same between the buttons.

12. Run a dry cloth over the keyboard to dry it thoroughly.

Results

There you go, your laptop keyboard is now clean 🙂

You see, it is very easy and fast to clean the keyboard without removing the key.

You can do this treatment once a week to have a nickel keyboard.

Alcohol at 90° has the advantage as a effective disinfectant and economical.

It removes all the bacteria in one fell swoop.

It’s kind of reassuring to know we’re laying our fingers on a nickel keyboard, right?

And it’s effective regardless of your PC brand: Lenovo, HP, Aspire, Dell, MSI, Asus, Compaq, Samsung, Toshiba…

An alternative to cleaning your laptop keyboard

– If you don’t have 90° alcohol, you can use it white vinegar. Just proceed in the same way as the 90° alcohol.

– Can also be cleaned with foamy water, simply. To do this, pour warm water into a bowl. And add a drop or two of dish soap. Dampen the cloth and wipe between the buttons.

– For more precise workmanship, you can replace the cloth with a Cotton Swab.

– You can also use Post-its to clean between computer keys.

– Nothing prevents you from taking a soft toothbrush or brush with bristles to remove the dirt stuck between the keys.

Preventive measure

Attention, it is said that it is necessary to wet the cloth (or cotton).

Most importantly, don’t get too wet.

No drops should fall on the computer.

To do this, dampen the cloth slightly and don’t press the button too hard.

3 tips to avoid when cleaning a laptop keyboard

– Avoid projecting hot air on your keyboard. For example, using hot air from a hair dryer is not recommended. The heat can melt keys and warp them.

– Do not use a vacuum cleaner. Blowing is too strong and may damage the lock.

– Do not use a wet cloth. Of course, liquids can flow between the keys and damage computer circuitry. Someone has to use barely damp cloth.

– Never use abrasive products: these are products made of more or less hard grains that can scratch the keys.

– Do not use solvent products either, such as White Spirit, turpentine… Because these are products that can dissolve certain substances. Therefore, they can damage the keyboard.

Can the keys be disassembled to clean the laptop PC keyboard?

If the keys on the keyboard are really dirty, you may be tempted to remove all the keys from the keyboard.

It can even be important if you spill coffee or Coke…

Technically, it’s very possible.

You can even use special tools to remove locks.

All that’s left is to clean them one by one with white vinegar or 90° alcohol.

Don’t forget that you must dry it before replacing it.

But is it really a good idea to do so?

In my opinion, it is necessary think carefully before starting this operation!

Because you have to be sure that you can pull out the key.

First, it is recommended that you film yourself taking them apart.

This can be very useful for getting all the keys back in their (right) places.

But you still need to have the knowledge to remove all the keys and restore them without any problems.

If you are a beginner, or not very useful, it is better to avoid it.

Therefore, this operation is for those skilled in computer maintenance.
