On Makiivka, an attack by the Ukrainian Himar would kill up to hundreds of mobilized Russians

There is no truce between Ukraine and Russia for New Year’s Eve. Kremlin forces spent their last day of 2022 and first hour of 2023 sending successive rounds of Iranian Shahed-136 missiles or drones to civilian facilities in Kyiv, including hotels or concert halls, and in seven other Ukrainian regions. Bittersweet reward, one of these drones includes an inscription “Good year!!!”.

The Ukrainian army did not remain silent during this attack. So 1uh January, Twitter was awash with rumors in which grisly images provided consistency: an attack by the Ukrainian Himars would hit the Russian military base in Makiivka, about fifteen kilometers from the city of Donetsk and in other Russian-controlled areas of the region.

Natural disasters

Apparently, the target was a large vocational school, where the Russian soldiers had been staying for a few weeks. While it is still difficult to authenticate them with infinite certainty at this stage, the images of the buildings after the projectiles fall show complete destruction.

The attack will be – according to multiple sources and although these reports cannot be verified – highly lethal. According to various local reports on Telegram, several hundred people who were mobilized would lose their lives. Although it may be lower, the figure of 600 men has already been mentioned.

Without citing sources, commentators Viktor Kovalenko confirms that the Ukrainian armed forces are talking about 400 killed and 300 wounded, all troops are newly mobilized and arriving to supply the Russian contingent. Russian military blogger Igor Girkin also spoke of the hundreds of deaths, and noted that the buildings targeted and hit were also used as weapons and vehicle reserves, which would explain the violence of the explosions.

Also on Telegram, residents of the Donetsk region and the city of Makiivka lamented that a tin screed had been installed, on the side of the Kremlin as well as the Donetsk regional authorities, over official and detailed information about the attack and its consequences.

Picked up by Reuters, Russia’s official TASS news agency confirmed an attack, citing only 15 people injured and without elaborating further. The next few hours should allow us to see a little more clearly.

In addition to this possible catastrophic attack, the media Visegrád 24 reported that that same night, another Ukrainian Himar had hit a target near Bakhmout, on another base, which was occupied by soldiers from the Wagner Group – 70 of them would be killed in the attack. ‘supply.
