Dynamic Islands, Always-On Screen, exciting new features…

The iPhone 14 Pro Max takes the main lines from the previous model, with stainless steel contours and a very successful frosted glass back. The real changes are made to the front, as the notch turns into a pill, a “Dynamic Island”, to accommodate the front camera and sensors required for Face ID. It integrates perfectly with the software interface, as it automatically interacts with your notifications and widgets through animations.

Another interesting new feature on the side of the screen is the Always-On Display. The feature, taken from Android, is mastered to perfection here, and will continuously display information such as the date and time. For the rest, the panel is still OLED with refresh rates ranging from 1 to 120 Hz, with a diagonal of 6.7 inches.

Photos also improved

The iPhone 14 Pro Max brings several changes on the photo side, with the main sensor changing from 12 megapixels to a 48 megapixel lens. Overall the photo is sharper overall. The ProRAW format in 48 megapixels is also in the game. The x2 telephoto lens is one of the other new features, in addition to the x3 telephoto zoom and ultra wide-angle, both of which are 12 megapixels. The TrueDepth camera has also been upgraded with an aperture going towards f/1.9 here to offer better performance in low light, not to mention autofocus.

Power to spare

This year, only the Pro series will benefit from the new A16 Bionic chip. Etched in 4 nm, announced as 10% more powerful (at the CPU level) than the previous generation. That said, it doesn’t bring any real gain in power, the difference won’t be felt every day, even in the most demanding games. More operations related to artificial intelligence will be faster.

Autonomy is no longer Apple’s black spot. The 14 Pro Max is extraordinary, because it can last 2 full days without straining too much. On the other hand, charging is still slow. It’s quite unfortunate in this price range. It takes between 1:45 and 2 hours to restore all battery energy.
